About Next Chapter Hypnotherapy
Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious or weighed down by thoughts or patterns that no longer serve us.
At Next Chapter Hypnotherapy, I support people at those moments, when something needs to change, and a new chapter is ready to begin.
My name is Emma, and I am a Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist, working with adults online and in person in Derbyshire (DE72).
My Journey
This work is deeply personal to me, because I understand first-hand how consuming anxiety can feel.
I had never struggled with my mental health before. Life was busy, sometimes stressful, but it felt manageable, until one day it simply didn’t anymore.
Over time, I had taken on too much. Stress, anxiety, and difficult experiences quietly built up in the background while my brain stayed in constant coping mode.
Then, almost like a flick of a switch, everything changed.
I went somewhere I had visited many times before and suddenly, out of nowhere, I had a panic attack.
After that moment, things began to spiral.
More and more places started to feel unsafe.
I found myself worrying about leaving home “just in case” it happened again, and the fear of embarrassing myself became almost as strong as the panic itself.
It wasn’t just a case of needing to breathe.
The panic showed up physically, sickness, an upset stomach, a racing heart, sweating and an overwhelming feeling of being unwell.
Some days, I couldn’t even open my curtains.
My world slowly became smaller and smaller for I would avoid places, and life felt limited and exhausting.
What changed everything was hypnotherapy.
Working with another hypnotherapist helped me understand what was happening in my brain, calm my nervous system and gently rebuild a sense of safety and confidence.
The change wasn’t instant, but it was real and lasting.
Since, I created a list of all the places and things that the anxiety defeated me with and have been back to revisit ALL of them, gaining back my POWER and feeling confident to visit those places again.
That experience inspired me to retrain, because I wanted to support others who feel trapped in the same cycle I once was.
My Approach
I work using solution-focused hypnotherapy, a modern, evidence-based approach that combines practical psychotherapy with guided relaxation and hypnosis.
Rather than analysing the past in detail, sessions focus on where you are now and where you want to be, helping the brain move out of survival mode and into a calmer, more balanced state.
Sessions are calm, collaborative, and supportive.
You remain fully aware and in control at all times, hypnotherapy is not about being “put under”, losing consciousness, or being made to do anything you don’t want to do.
